A Bio First Aider describes a person who is trained to be a first responder in cleaning a biohazardous scene that falls within Category 3 and 4 Incidents (Marginal Scene). This qualification is ideal for a company wishing to have an in-house trained employee to decontaminate items and surfaces that have been in contact with a body fluid discharge. This training programme includes the same content as that extended to a Health and Safety Officer/ Incident Manager. He/she will also be trained in:
  • Chemical Mixing
  • Decontaminating various non absorbent surfaces
  • Beginning to end, incident purge
  • Assessment
    • Risks
    • Creating a safe path
    • Establish a work station
    • Use of chemicals
    • Water hydration techniques and much, much more.
  • Purging a wall and ceiling
  • Bio waste management
  • Decontaminating electrical/ complicated/ valuable equipment
  • Purging a sharps situation (bloody glass)
  • PPE suitable types - donning and doffing – certification
  • Tools – Equipment – Materials
